An immensely popular character from The Night Before Christmas, Jack Skellington didn’t initially embrace Christmas or react positively to it, but he is still fondly remembered. Despite his goth accessories and horror movie-like appearance, Jack Skellington’s influence on Christmas is truly iconic, particularly as The Night Before Christmas is such a memorable holiday film. Even though he kidnapped Santa Claus, it’s difficult to forget the old Jack Skellington and his sizable skull head.

Harry Lime 

Played by the indelible Joe Pesci in the classic Home Alone, Harry Lime might be a bothersome burglar intent on ruining people’s Christmas. Still, his role in this movie is hard to overlook. A humorous and cunning man, Harry Lime quickly realized he and his partner had met their match in Kevin McCallister, proclaiming the iconic line: “I think we’re getting scammed by a kindergartener.” Ultimately, Kevin emerged victorious, leaving Harry Lime behind bars. What a classic. 

John McClane

John McTiernan’s action-packed classic, Die Hard, is considered a quintessential Christmas movie by many, especially since the plot unfolds when terrorists crash a Christmas party attended by John McClane, thereby thwarting his chances of reuniting with his estranged wife. The terrorists made a big mistake, as it becomes clear that you shouldn’t cross John McClane, especially during Christmas. 

Willie T. Soke

The 2003 release of Bad Santa became a significant hit, largely because it depicted anything but the Christmas spirit, with Willie T. Soke’s goal of dressing as Santa in numerous department stores and then robbing them highlighting his unsavory character. However, things change when the alcoholic Willie meets a kid who believes in Santa Claus, prompting him to reevaluate his life and admit that he loathes himself. Thankfully, there aren’t many Willie T. Sokes in the real world.
