Fitting a Male Slide on Connector

Professional decorators frequently utilize slide on connectors for both male and female ends. These plugs enable the creation of custom extension cords and the precise cutting of perimeter light lines, resulting in a cleaner and more refined appearance. Slide on connectors are available in SPT-1 and SPT-2 versions. Ensure that if your cord is SPT-1, you are using SPT-1 connectors as well.

Adhere to the following steps when fitting a male connector. Female connectors are installed in the same way.

Cut the Zip Cord

Step 1: Cut the zip cord without stripping the insulation.

prepare zip and plug

Step 2: Detach the backslider from the connector.

Step 3 - Slide on Zip Plug

Step 3: Insert the zip into the connector, ensuring the tip goes all the way to the end channel. Make sure the ribbed side of the zip is on the right side to maintain proper polarity. (Ribbed zip aligns with the larger plug blade) Bend the zip to make contact with the two sharp prongs.
