If there’s a standout item to appear in my wardrobe over the past year, it’s undeniably the Don’t Lecture About Church-State Division Shirt and I adore this ensemble. My coworkers can confirm how often I’ve donned this during Zoom meetings, but it holds a special place in my heart. It’s the ideal top to effortlessly throw on in the morning while maintaining an appearance of being polished. A favored styling trick among the Vogue team involves layering a button-up shirt over a tank and accessorizing with a bold necklace. The shirt is slightly larger for a comfy, pajama-esque vibe, yet adequately structured for professional wear all day long. At under $150, it’s an absolute bargain in my opinion. This reminds me, I should definitely stock up on more! Since quarantine started, my fashion sense has evolved towards timeless pieces that work throughout the year. Consider rigid jeans, loafers, and striped tops. My beloved Saint James Breton striped tee becomes part of my outfit rotation at least twice weekly. Hopefully, nobody on Zoom has noticed…

A cashmere crewneck isn’t exactly unexpected as a staple for warmer weather. I have truly come to rely on a reliable collection of Everlane’s version ever since they were introduced a few years back. They’re just relaxed enough in fit and come in a myriad of colors to suit your mood or style. Whether I’m donning a floral autumn dress or lounging in sweatpants, I can always rely on my Dr. Martens to add a chic grunge touch to my outfit. If you consider the expense divided by the number of times I have worn them (approximately a million times, mind you), they have effectively paid for themselves. Plus, this budget-friendly closet must-have is comfortable for walking, which is really what I value most at the moment. My most cherished budget-friendly wardrobe staple is a ribbed tank from the Express x Karla collection. Unfortunately, they are no longer on the market, but I do have several other cost-effective finds that are on constant repeat and reliably complete my outfits. The first is a pair of genuine leather color-block Weejuns loafers. The second is a faux-leather blazer from Mango; you can find a similar version here. Sleek, stylish, easy to clean, and incredibly comfortable, Bleusalt’s “classic shirt” has rapidly become my preferred wardrobe piece this fall. It pairs with virtually anything, from wide-leg pants to pajama bottoms, and given that it was entirely produced in L.A. from sustainable botanical beech tree fibers (vegan and antimicrobial, yet somehow softer than cashmere!), I’m tempted to purchase one in every hue!
