At first glance, suspending Christmas ornaments seems quite straightforward. Take an ornament, fasten one of those pointy wires to it, locate an empty branch, and voila, the ornament is hung. However, as the tree dries out from the warmth and low humidity of your living room, improperly hung ornaments might tumble to the floor. If your tree is on carpet, the ornament might survive, but on a tile or hardwood floor, your beautiful glass ornaments face a disastrous fate. Overcrowding your tree with too many ornaments can also pose a challenge. Christmas ornaments are essential to us, and we have some recommendations for securely hanging them on your tree and showcasing any extras you might have.
Secure the Wire
Typically, ornaments feature a loop of string or ribbon at the top for easy placement on the Christmas tree. Our ornaments are no different, but after comprehensive research by our resident elves at our Gift All Season Elves Academy*, we now advise using a wire ornament hanger attached to the loop. When the tree's branches and needles dry out, they can become slippery, or needles may break off, causing ornaments to plummet. Wire hangers can be firmly fastened both to the ornament and around the branch, ensuring the ornament stays in place.
Select the Right Branch
Only novices would hang a heavy ornament on a slender branch, but it's fine to refresh our ornament-hanging skills occasionally. Heavier ornaments should be placed on robust branches or closer to the tree trunk on thinner branches. Nearer the trunk, branches are sturdier, providing a safer spot for ornaments. Plus, embedding ornaments deeper within the tree adds lovely depth and hidden treasures throughout, not just on the front branches. To add a touch of elegance, consider using these S-shaped hooks for your tree to secure your favorite ornaments! They are ideal for supporting heavier ornaments!
Ornament Garland
We know some avid ornament enthusiasts, and even some of our own team members have up to three or four Christmas trees to showcase their extensive collections. If your Christmas tree reaches its ornament capacity, no need to stow away the extras. An ornament garland is another excellent way to display your cherished ornaments during the holiday season. Stringing a lovely ribbon or twine over the fireplace or across a window allows you to attach ornaments either with wires or their loops.
Ornament Wreath
If ornaments garland still doesn't provide enough space, creating an ornament wreath is an appealing alternative that uses numerous ornaments. With a basic wreath form and a hot glue gun, you can arrange ornaments into a wreath that yields a charmingly vintage, yet captivating look. This option is best for ornaments you don't plan to hang on the tree again, as it allows you to appreciate them all in one display.
Ornament Jar
Some inventive retailers have impressed us with their display methods, like one shop that showcased all their pickle ornaments in a clear-glass jar. But creative displays aren't only for retailers; multiple clear-glass jars, vases, or containers can make stunning table decorations, eye-catching side table displays, or chic counter-tops. We believe our ornaments are breathtaking, and a fully decorated Christmas tree complemented by additional displays is the foremost way to exhibit your collection.
