Some functionalities on Facebook have been operational for several years. One of these is the Facebook Event feature.
From highlighting and linking friends to a public occasion, to notifying them about a privately hosted invite-only gathering, the Events feature empowers users to organize their own event or join pre-existing ones.
Sending invitations to friends for an event ensures it appears in their Notifications, offering options to accept, decline, or contemplate. Invitees can also comment on the event’s page, pose questions, and learn more through the Location tag and Description.
In short, when aiming to invite a large group to an event, or if your goal is to boost the awareness of a public event happening either in-person or virtually, the simplicity and practicality of the Events feature on Facebook makes it an excellent choice.
Here’s how to include friends in the guest list of an existing event or design your own event and extend invitations to your friends.
3 Steps to Invite Friends to an Existing Event
- Locate the event using the Facebook search bar or by selecting the Menu button in the bottom-right corner to go to the ‘Events’ section.
- Press the button with the three dots icon, found next to ‘Interested’ and ‘Going’ buttons.
- Choose ‘Invite People’ and either look for specific friends or scroll through your friends’ list to invite them using the button next to their names.
NOTE: Due to the integration between Facebook and Instagram, you can invite friends through both platforms directly from this Event page.
Creating an Event and Inviting Friends
To start a new event, head over to the ‘Events’ section from your Facebook menu and click on the plus icon at the top of the screen.
Fill in as much information as possible about your event, making sure to adjust the ‘Event Privacy’ setting appropriately. A ‘Private’ event will be invite-only, a public event is open to all, and a ‘Friends’ setting means only your friends will be able to see your event.
After setting up your event, begin sharing invitations with friends. For a private event, remember that you can keep inviting friends even after the event is set up and shared on Facebook. Note also that for a Private event, only you can add new friends and send invites, while invitations for a public event can be extended by anyone.
We hope this is helpful! Facebook’s Events feature is a useful tool for those wishing to create and promote events among their acquaintances. The more time you take to get acquainted with the feature and its functionality, the quicker you’ll navigate the event creation process!
