Warm White LED Christmas Lights
Warm white is arguably the most favored shade of white LED lights. A probable reason for its popularity is that warm whites closely resemble traditional white incandescent lights, which dominated the Christmas lighting scene for decades.
Warm white LEDs achieve their appearance by blending a touch of yellow with the white. This slight yellow tint gives the light its ‘warm,' joyful, and classic Christmas feel.
Unfortunately, the exact shade of warm white can differ significantly. The color temperature of any light is measured in Kelvins, which is even more crucial for white colors. The lower the Kelvin number, the more noticeable the yellow hue will be.
Warm white Kelvin temperatures range from as low as 2200 (high yellow presence) up to 3200 (minimal yellow). For our professional installations, we usually use 2800 Kelvin warm white Christmas lights. However, when aiming to make an installation really stand out and the client prefers virtually no yellow, we opt for a 3200 Kelvin warm white light, the brightest of the warm whites.
When shopping for warm white LED Christmas lights, it's wise to find a reputable supplier, preferably one that caters to the professional Christmas industry, and stick to buying from them. Each supplier typically stocks specific color temperatures. Many focus solely on one shade of warm white. It's also crucial to remember that Kelvin temperature isn't an exact science in the Christmas industry. What one vendor calls 2800K might be referred to as 2600K or 3000K by another. Therefore, light sets from two different sellers claiming the same color temperature might not match perfectly.
Cool White LED Christmas Lights
Another variant of white LED Christmas light is cool white. Similar to warm whites, cool whites achieve their distinct look by incorporating a bit of another color. In the case of cool whites, it's a slight blue hue. In the early days of LED Christmas lights, cool white lights had a strong, unattractive blue tint. Nowadays, quality cool white lights feature only a slight hint of blue.
The color temperature of cool white lights ranges from 6,000K to 9,000K. The higher the number, the bluer the LED bulbs will appear.
Pure White LED Christmas Lights
Are you on a quest for just white — no yellows, blues, or any other colors mixed in? Then you'll want pure white LED lights. As the name indicates, pure white LEDs are genuinely pure white, with no other colors added.
Ensure, though, that pure white is truly what you want. Many find this shade of white somewhat harsh, while others appreciate the clarity of this white. In fact, pure whites are becoming increasingly popular. Every year, we sell more of them.
Unlike warm and cool whites, you don't need to worry much about color consistency with pure whites. There's minimal variation from manufacturer to manufacturer, so pure lights from different sources tend to match very closely.
